Pitching opportunities

Winning the category for lyrics only has given me confidence to share my lyrics along with winning different web subscriptions to support my personal development. I joined SongU once the free trial kicked in and I am diving right in trying to find opportunities to collaborate and pitching opportunities. This week three new pitching opportunities for lyrics only came along. I pitched 9 song lyrics across the three guest composers. So far I have had 1 lyric stared and interested and another as a maybe. Baby steps

Meeting Rob

On Thursday I had the pleasure of meeting Rob Griffith a singer songwriter who I met through Comrie Soundlab. He had agreed to create a melody for Shetland Lass returns and he wanted me to hear it in person. It was an emotional moment, something about someone singing your words is just a bit of magic. Anyway after lots of chat, tea and a few tears we parted with a plan for carrying Shetland Lass forward. I look forward to continuing to work with Rob and if any other musicians or vocalists would like to collaborate with me on songs I would be honoured. I have a large catalogue of lyrics ready to go.

Art meets my poetry

I am becoming more comfortable sharing my artwork. I don’t really know what I’m doing I just combine my mindfulness doodles with watercolours and see what comes about. My time swimming, walking and cycling feeds my creations, both writing and painting.

Blowing away the cobwebs

A good old fashioned night out was how it was described and that’s exactly what we had. A lot of laughs, a lot of dancing, good food, good company mixed with just the right amount of libations. As we move towards the end of a busy school term it was good to let our hair down forget about any negative energy and focus on the good times ahead. For me it’s not always easy getting out the door but once I do I usually have a brilliant time. Thankyou to these wonderful ladies.

Creative Collaborations

I had a very short but exciting meeting yesterday. When two busy brains came together to collaborate. The wonderful music therapist Emily Whitewick and I sat over a short lunch to see how we can work together. I do not like using a.i. I want to work with real musicians and vocalists, but what a.i has shown me is that MY lyrics written by ME can be turned into songs. This has given me the confidence to share the lyrics with other talented people who have different but complimentary skills. Skills I sense will dovetail to create meaningful creations that people can relate to. So Emily is now away with a few of my lyrics looking for what she can relate to and bring to life. To say I’m excited is an understatement. Emily has the most wonderful voice, but so much more than that. She senses what people need, meets them where they are and reads those who don’t have the words. Her voice drifts around the space and fills up those who need to hear, she connects, and it is a privilege to be part of that.

Self Care

Today I’m meeting up with two of my swimming buddies, we call ourselves the swimming swankies. It’s just nice to take time out and check in with each other. I was awake a few times through the night but got up early, lit the fire and my first candle of Advent. I’m not overly religious but flames settle my mind. It also stops me checking in on how many Spotify downloads I’ve had!

Recognition

Yesterday I woke up to the news that my lyric only entry had been chosen as winner in its category. I kept waiting all day for the catch……it never came.

I am delighted and honoured that my lyrics….

 ‘Shetland Lass returns’

was chosen. These lyrics were created from a poem I wrote for a friend a couple of years ago.

I need to practice a bit of self belief and see what evolves.

Healing and self-care journey

I believe in the power of music to heal and inspire. In this section, I'll be sharing my personal journey of healing and self-care, including the practices and experiences that help me stay grounded and creative. Join me as I explore ways to nurture the mind, body, and soul.

Wild swimming is one of the best things I do for myself, meeting with friends and feeling the cold water against my skin, washes everything else away.

Breathwork is another powerful tool I have in my bag. The wonderful space created by John Paul Mason at Breathing Journeys has given me the skills to connect with myself and nature and allows my body to release feelings I never knew it held.

Features and appearances

I'm excited to share any upcoming features, appearances, and collaborations. Check back here for updates on where you can find me performing, speaking, or contributing to other creative projects. I look forward to connecting with you at these events!

My track wild like the geese has been aired by Plains Media- Excited

2026 will start with my track call the wild geese being aired on the women of substance podcast.
